How does Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator
work?
Shipley GoFast accelerates your Internet access through proprietary
text and image compression, content caching and other network
optimizations.

If you have a slow Internet connection (such as a dial-up or
wireless connection) with bandwidth of less than 300Kbps, you will
experience a significant degree of acceleration using
Shipley GoFast.

What types of content does Shipley
GoFast
Web Accelerator speed up?
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator significantly speeds up web page
access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless
compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and
style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to
gif images, jpeg images and Flash content.
Shipley GoFast also accelerates email traffic (POP3 and SMTP)
using lossless compression.
Shipley GoFast does NOT speed up file downloads (over FTP or file
sharing programs), streaming audio/video and HTTPS (secure
web sites).

How do I start Shipley GoFast Web
Accelerator?
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator is launched automatically every time
Windows starts. You do not have to launch it manually.
A Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator icon appears in the Windows system
tray to show that it is operating in the background.

How do I change the image quality for a
particular image?
Right-clicking on an image within Internet Explorer and
selecting "Show Original Image" allows you to view the original
image. Selecting "Show All Original Images" allows you to
view all original images on the entire web page.

Right-click on the Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator taskbar icon and
select "Settings". Select the "Image Quality" tab. Adjust the
slider bar to the desired image quality setting. Press OK to save
the changes.

How do I use Internet Explorer with
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator?
Internet Explorer is automatically configured to use Shipley
GoFast
Web Accelerator. Use Internet Explorer as you normally
would.

How do I use other browsers with
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator?
Netscape Navigator is automatically configured to use
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator. Use Netscape as you normally
would.
For other browsers such as Opera and Mozilla, Shipley
GoFast Web
Accelerator works with any web browser that allows you to specify
an HTTP proxy. You must set the HTTP proxy host to be "127.0.0.1"
and the port number to be the local listening port of the
Shipley GoFast Client (5400 by default). Consult your browser's
documentation for information on how this can be done.

Does Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator speed up
email access?
Yes, Shipley GoFast automatically accelerates your email traffic
(POP3 and SMTP) for all popular email clients such as Eudora,
Outlook, Outlook Express and Netscape Mail. Other email
clients should work transparently as well.

Does Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator speed up
my secure (HTTPS) transactions such as web banking?
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator does not accelerate secure
transactions. Secure web sites will continue to work by
bypassing the acceleration component. If you have a Secure
application that you would like accelerated, inquire about the
Shipley GoFast Secure product.

What operating systems can Shipley

Web Accelerator be installed on?
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator can be installed on any of the
following operating systems:
- Windows 95b w/ Winsock2
- Windows 98
- Windows 98SE
- Windows Millennium Edition (Windows ME)
- Windows NT 4.0
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator requires at least Internet Explorer
4.0 and Netscape 4.0 or any later version of either browser.
Note that the Shipley GoFast Email Acceleration component requires
Windows 98 and above, and that the Shipley GoFast Pop-up Blocker
component requires Internet Explorer 5.0 and above.
Newer versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer are available
free of charge through Microsoft.
For Windows 95 users: Currently, Microsoft does not permit
Windows 95 users to install Internet Explorer 6 or greater,
however, Internet Explorer 5.5 is available.

to use Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator?
The recommended system requirements for Shipley GoFast Web
Accelerator are a Pentium 200MHz with 64MB of RAM and at least 5MB
of hard-disk space.
Regardless, Shipley GoFast Web Accelerator will work within your
current system configuration to provide you with the best content
acceleration.
